Lime Paint

Product Description

Non toxic / Zero VOC

Mineral-based coating that creates a mottled, soft weathered patina of a traditional Mediterranean lime paint. Its unique formulation allows for both interior and exterior use.

Olivetti Lime Paint is a brush applied coating that can be left matte or burnished to a shine. Float walls to level five for a sleek look or float them creating skipping actions for a more rustic look. It creates subtle movement and natural color variation.

Olivetti Lime Paint comes untinted so the color options are limitless. To keep the paint zero VOC when tinting, use a zero VOC colorant. An organic, durable, mold & mildew resistant finish makes Olivetti Lime Paint ideal for decoration of new and historical buildings. Lime Paint is a truly wonderful traditional material that ages beautifully.

It can be applied to most suitably prepared plaster, masonry and previously painted surfaces.

To help achieve a more consistent appearance and uniform absorption of Lime Paint, use Color Atelier Prep Coat as a base coat. In high traffic areas, for a wipeable surface use Color Atelier Sealer.

COVERAGE: One gallon will cover approximately 350 square feet, depending on porosity of surface.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: Restore and repair walls. Walls may be left with texture and defects for an older looking, distressed finish. Prime with Olivetti Primer or your choice of any water based primer. Paint may be applied directly over plaster surfaces or walls covered with joint compound. Float walls to level five for a sleek look or float them creating skipping actions for a more rustic look.

TINTING AND APPLICATION: Stir the lime paint thoroughly prior to use.

Tint paint with universal tints or dissolved pigments. Apply minimum of 2 coats of lime paint using a brush. Ideally allow Olivetti Lime Paint to dry overnight between coats, but leave at least 6 hours dry time. Depending on the desired look optionally apply 3rd coat of lime paint.

POLISHING: On smooth walls, finishes may be polished with a broken in extra fine sanding sponge, a stainless steel burnishing trowel and or a clean, lint free cloth, depending on the degree of polish desired. To polish, Olivetti recommends two coats of lime paint and two coats Olivetti Prep Coat. Olivetti Lime Paint is not recommended for surfaces in direct contact with water, oils and or chemicals. In high traffic areas, for a wipeable surface use Olivetti Sealer.

BURNISHING: Burnishing will warm up the color of the lime paint, create more mottling and add sheen when viewed at an angle.  Walls will have a beautiful glow to them.  If you would like more sheen, burnish with the right edge of the burnishing trowel.  Trowel is held at about a 30 degree angle and never flat to the wall.  Move right blade across the wall in one direction.  You should have a minimum of two coats of lime pant before burnishing.

NOTE: Do not apply when surface or ambient temperature is below 41 °F or above 93 °F.

DRYING TIME: Allow to dry for 24 hours between coats.

CLEAN UP: Immediately after use with hot, soapy water.

PACKAGING: Olivetti Lime Paint is available in Quart, Gallon & 5-Gallon sizes.

COMPLEMENTARY PRODUCTS: Olivetti Prep Coat is recommended for a polished lime paint application. Prep Coat is designed to help achieve a more consistent appearance and uniform absorption of lime paint on interior walls.

As mineral finishes are semi-porous, sealing helps provide more wash ability. Olivetti Sealer may be applied over lime paint for improved durability, and sealer makes the surface wipeable.
